Katie's Kreations EARRINGS

Here are a few examples of the earrings that I have made for my new jewlery business, 'Katie's Kreations'. To earn money for camp and such, I started making jewelry. Now, I have jewlery in a local shop and it brought in over one hundred dollars a couple of weeks ago! I was so excited and thankful, because that took care of about 1/3 of the total amount! THANK YOU, GOD!

Those white ones are some of my favorites!

There will be more examples to come of some other pieces that I have made!

Dragonfly (By the way, YEAH, you are at the right place! :) )

Today I was outside playing with Ben when I spotted this dragonfly! I took a few pictures and then decided to play around with them on Mama's computer. This is what I came up with.

I really like the one below.

I have a video of Benjamin to show you, so I am going to see if i can get it downloaded to Youtube.

Nightmare's Edge, by Bryan Davis

This is the trailer for one of my favorite author's new books, Nightmare's Edge. I would encourage everyone to read this series! They are AWESOME! If you have any questions about them, feel free to ask me in a comment.

About two weeks ago we (My family and our Awana Trek group) went to visit the Creation Museum in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was great! There I found out that I have an interest in astronomy. I guess we will see where that goes, huh? :)

Swordfish and Tim Hawkins

On Friday, Dad took us all out to do a day trip to a few places. First, we went to Lake Waccamaw and we saw 4 wild alligators! Now, we are mountain people, and alligators do NOT congregate up in the mountains! We were all looking at them and Mama was taking pictures like crazy! Benjamin saw one and he covered up his eyes with his hands and started screaming, "I'm not looking, Mama! I'm not looking, Mama! Get me outa this mess!" Who knows where he learned that little part about the "mess".....

Later that evening, we went to a seafood place. The only seafood restaurant I can really remember going to is our Mountain Surf, the squatty little seafood place up in the mountains. So, going into this big building with a whole bunch of aquariums, was quite the new experiance. I had never seen sushi before either. GROSS.... I didn't try it (my Dad didn't try it, and if he doesn't try it, it's a big no-no!), but I DID try swordfish!!! It tasted a lot like tuna steak! It was really good! I just wish I could have seen it's nose! :)

Well, that's the 'Swordfish' part, so here is the 'Tim Hawkins' part:

I hope you enjoyed that! :)

Benjamin, the free throw shooter!

The picture above was taken with my video camera/digi cam. Today Benjamin and I went down to the basketball court and shot some hoops! Benjamin was trying to shoot some free throws, but he kept shooting straight up. smileys After getting bopped in the head a few times, he started covering his head with his hands, ducking, and running forward. sign smileys It was really amusing and cute! Maybe (if I can figure out how) I will get a video of him doing it and post it on here!

My (school) Writing for the Week

Well, this week Mama wanted me to put my school writing on my blog so that my family and friends could see what we are learning! We have been learning about the Jewish people, and what some of their customs are. This week I wrote about the Shofar horn that they use during some of their ceremonies. Here is the paper:

The Shofar and All that goes with It
By Katie G.
The Shofar is mainly made out of a ram's horn, though it can also be made out of any Kosher animal's horns, excepting cows and oxen. First, the horn is boiled in water until it is soft. It is then hollowed out and slightly flattened. While the horn hardens, the mouth piece is carefully shaped. Sometimes, especially in the Middle East, the Shofar horn will be very long and curved.
In the Bible, the Shofar was used to herald great moments! For example, when a new king was crowned, on the Jubilee that took place every fifty years, in the Sabbath, and other festivals. It also signaled the army during wartime.
There are three different calls the Shofar can make. They are called the "Tekiah", "Shavarim", and "Tervah". The Tekiah is a long, low sounding call the progresses to almost a whole octave higher when it ends. The Sheverim consists of three short notes. Last, but not least, is the Tervah, which makes nine quick, sharp, notes the end high.

Well, that is my writing for this week. I hope you enjoyed it!

Basketball is going pretty well this year! As we are the only middle school team in the Eastern side of the State, we will automatically be going to State! State is going to be next week, so please be praying for us! We would really like to do our best!

At church, I have been helping direct a drama that the younger youth will be doing on Easter. It is called 'Arise, My Love'. This is something like what we are doing:

Okay, I think that's about it for now!

4. Pick four other people to tag.

5. E-mail those people and tell them that they are tagged!

Alright! Here you go:

This picture was taken by my Mom, Michelle, at one of my recent basketball games. You can see me in this picture behind #3. In all but one of my games I have been the tallest player on the floor. I am 5' 8". Anyway, this was an away game. We lost this game. You can also see our #1 point guard, Tyler, in front of me. I play a post position, which is where you play right under the basket. I love to play basketball, which is why my blog is called what it is!

More to come in the next few days. I am going to try to get better at this blogging stuff.

Merry (LATE!) Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Well, I don't know about you all, but I had a GREAT Christmas! I got three new books. They are 'The Warrior Heir', 'Here, There be Dragons', and 'The Search for the Red Dragon'. The last two are by the same author, James A. Owen. I'm afraid that I can't remember who the first one is by right now .scuba hand signals *whistles innocently*
I also got new journals and pens. The journals are going to be used for writing journals. A writing journal is what an author may carry around with him (or her! scuba hand signals ) self to write down things that pop into their minds while they are not in a place to write the idea down. Like in the store, or a resturant.
Well, I got alot of other stuff, but as it is WAY past my bed time, I can't write them all down. Good night!

EEK!

Wow! I see that I have not posted in about 2 months! We have been very busy around here! Just to list some things:

1. Basketball about 2 or 3 times a week
2. 2 Birthdays (one of them mine!!!)
3. Church Christmas Cantata
4. MUCH MUCH more!

I guess I will tell about each of the things listed here. OK, first, BASKETBALL!!!

My team is called the Crusaders. We consist of 10 Middle School girls. We have been playing mostly JV teams, though. You see, there are no middle school teams in our region (which also means that we automatically get to go to state!). We haven't won a game yet, though we have come close!!! winking smileys My Mom as posted some pics of that on her blog. The site address is below.

BIRTHDAY!!!

On December 8th I had my 14th B-day! My Mom posted pictures of my on her blog ( http://www.galyeanbattalion.blogspot.com/ ), you will have to scroll down to see them. I had a great time! I got a Nintendo DS for my birthday and my B-day supper was made up of:
1. Pasta
2. Some green beans
3. Just plain salad
4. Chocolate cake
5.Edy's Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream

YUMMY!!!!!!!!!

CHRISTMAS CANTATA

Our new Church puts on a Christmas Cantata every year. This year we were apart of that by doing a drama type thing while the choir sang. It was a lot of work, but worth it!

Mommy has a new favorite singing group. They are called 'Straight no Chaser'. Here is a video of them:

Cool, huh????

REALLY, REALLY COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, I thought this was really cool! You guys HAVE to read this!

Dear Friend:This past Tuesday, the McCain / Palin Bus came through a little towncalled, Lebanon , Ohio . The LORD allowed me to go to the Rally givingthem a message that He wanted me to personally deliver.Sunday Night - a burden hit me that would only shake me to my knees - Iprayed and wept for our Nation. Never has my heart been so broken beforeGod. I literally interceded for these wonderful people who do not deserveall the hate against them. . . .Monday and into Monday Night - the burden of prayer was so heavy that I wasliterally shaking and could not stop weeping. ( I didn't know that theywere coming to Ohio .) I prayed and walked and wept and walked. . . . onand on.Tuesday at 2:00 A.M. - God spoke these words to me - 'Go turn the Radioon!' Immediately the Reporter's Words w ere - 'McCain & Palin Bus to be inLebanon later this morning for a 10:00 A.M. Rally!'Immediately on hearing that news, I heard God again...God said, 'You are to go. You will meet them and give them a message forMe!'[]. . . . .I didn't stop praying until I drove over to the town and parkedthe car. The News would later report they were expecting 5,000 people andthe actual head-count of those who had been scanned was more than 10,000people.I simply obeyed...and God actually told me where to stand, who to talkto...and when to be on the move. . . . . and even those standing beside youmay just be an Angel.I struck up a conversation with an agent on the ground - he simply said, 'Ican't allow you to stand here!' Here is where the bus was going to actualpull up . They had to make a much larger perimeter so the entire area wasnow being moved back several blocks. . . . He told me to go through themetal detector zone and just watch from the back. So, that's what I did.Looking over the shoulders and backs and heads of all those people...I knewit would take a miracle for what GOD told me to do.As I was standing there, two Boy Scouts came running up myback...literally, they almost knocked me to the ground because they wererunning so fast behind[] me.... Their Scout Leader and several smallerboys were behind them...but as the first two were trying to push throughthe crowd, saying they were late...the smaller scouts were left in theirdust. The Scout Leader who was with a McCain Rep from the State grabbed meand told me to bring the other Scouts up front as they continued to pushthrough. As the Rep was shouting back at me......the people parted just like Godparted the Re d Sea.! When I got there I was fifteen feet from thepodium. GOD said, 'Stand here, and don't move from this spot.'Within five minutes...the bus pulled up and around the other side McCain,Sarah Palin and her husband Todd stepped up and the speeches took off. Iwas where God placed me...and even Sarah Palin and Todd were standing on myside of the stage. I made eye contact, I gave them thumbs upgestures...and I knew they were just happy to see me standing there. Ha Ha . . . . .A little lady who stood by me, reached up and told the Rep thatthey had promised a picture with her because she was the one who had lost ason in Iraq , recently. The Rep confirmed she would get a picture withthem and they would talk to her. When McCain came to hug her... heimmediately shook my hand and following his moment with her, I shook hishand . . . . I said, 'God wants you to know that I'm praying for you, Sir!'He thanked me and kept smiling. I repeated that phrase to him five times! He grabbed my hands and looked right into my eyes and said, 'I won't makeit with out prayer. Sir, Thank you for praying for me, and don't let oneday go by that you don't pray for me. I need all the prayers that I canget. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!'As he moved to my right, Sarah Palin, came over to my left side...standingover the crowd and then looking at the little lady who had lost the son. .. . Sarah came and got on her hands and knees on that side of the stageand hugged that little Mom, telling her, '...it was not in vain.. . . . . ..It was at this moment Sarah Palin, reached out for me to help her up and asI was assisting her to stand I was now face to face with her and GOD said,'Open up your Mouth and I will fill it.'Here is what came out... 'God wants you to know that you are a present day Esther!'[She immediately began to cry]!'God wants to tell you that you are Chosen for such a time as this!' 'Youare called, and chosen to be a leader.' 'Don't lose heart and don't fearman.' 'The news and nay-sayers and criticizers are going to be veryhateful toward you... and in the days ahead they are going to turn up theheat...but do not fear.''You are a present day Esther.' You are an Esther. You are an Esther!'Keep your eyes on GOD and know that He has chosen you to Reign!' 'Staystrong...be strong...don't tire. Don't be weary in well-doing. Bestrong.' Her husband Todd came over and I told him what I told her. He began tocry. I emphasized the fact that he was to guard her at this time...andknow that '...she is GOD-CALLED and GOD-ANOINTED.' ...this is a GOD-THINGand your wife is a Present day Esther...she is for God to use at thistime...She is an Esther...she is an Esther...she is an Esther.' You willbe hated...but stand strong...GOD has called both of you to stand!' 'Weare praying and I am praying for you...!'At this moment, McCain came right to where I was finishing talking to Toddand I told Mr. McCain exactly what I told to Sarah and Todd Palin.'Mr. McCain, ...they are called of God and she is an Esther.' 'Don't losehope and don't lose heart.' We are praying for all of you!'He shook my hand and with a deep look of understanding what I had justsaid, he said, 'Thank you for your prayers and support...I really do meanthat!' And he turned and shook more hands...and I watched them as they wentthrough the crowd. When I got to my car I sat there for quite a long time...knowing the GOD ofthe Universe had just used me to deliver a message confirming to Sarah andTodd to realize they are truly chosen vessels of God.I wept. I have not stopped praying and crying. My heart is full knowingthey had to have all the staging and all the hype and all the crowd...butthe GOD of Heaven and Earth...wanted to give them a Divine-God-Appointment!To God be all the GLORY and HONOR. Do you want to know if I believe Godcan speak. Yes...Absolutely!Burdened for all of our Leaders!Pastor Mark Arnold ( Ohio )

You see?!?!?!? THAT IS SO COOL!
